UK Knanaya Unity

Failure of UKKCA constitution amendment committee clearly questions competency level of leadership, failure of any committee appointed by any one time executive committee truly reflects their performance level. Failure of these committees can be for many reasons, but primarily due to insufficient memberships, in-experience of members, and non-expert memberships etc (at times due to external factors like invisible Power Lobbies). It’s the UKKCA executive committee to ensure that any committee created is capable of completing their entrusted responsibilities. Unfortunately constitution amendment committee also had a similar fate of UKKCA building committee, a committee formed to either purchase or construct UKKCA building.   

Without Knannaites, their unity and co-operation, there’s no Knanaya Koodarayogam’s or Units, without sufficient Units, UKKCA’s existence itself is in doubt.  As like any other human being, Knannaites are very responsible and as such resist or raise their objections to  any unpopular and un-thoughtful decisions. Leaders should very effectively deal with these situations or otherwise these reactions may have serious implications and after effects on individuals, families and the bigger society and at times it’s impossible to recover from these reactions. Few of our members and leaders doesn’t seems to realise these facts and with their untruly measures, continue to harm Knanaya unity at unit as well as at national level.

World is growing in an astonishing high speed, today Seven billionth human being is born in India, along with this tremendous population growth, human perceptions on life and life styles are also changing. One of the prime area of change is the ability to probe anything, or can be described as highly devolved natural ability. People developed themselves to fearlessly question all non standard practices, or are resisting themselves from suppression.  In short, times have changed and it’s time for our so called leaders to change, Lay leaders as well as Spiritual leaders. Unlike olden days where rules and regulations are created to rule the people and the world, current developed human prefers to view those things for a hustle free living. This is a welfare state and welfare stage of life and everyone accepts only those rules and regulations, which are for their benefit and only positively contributing to their development, physically, mentally and spiritually.

All these organisational failures, clearly points to one direction - inefficiency of the leadership. Unrealistic and visionless people attracted to Celebrity Leadership,  without realising the amount of responsibilities involved, without understanding the constitution, without learning the positional values, without committing their time and services to organisation as well as to its members.

Prospective leaders should realise that creation of UKKCA is not only to celebrate annual conventions, not only to share stage with other knanaya and non knanaya leaders, not only to represent UKKCA at various knanaya forums, but to look after the welfare of UK Knanaites by implementing or establishing new welfare measures which increases Knanaya relationships at the unit level and at the national level.  To achieve this we need each and every Knannaite living in UK, including all their positive efforts, nothing is little when we need to achieve  our bigger Knanaya Unity and development

ഇതെന്താ, കേരള നിയമസഭയോ?

I shall share with all of you whatever little I know about the Constitution Review.

It seems UKKCA appointed a committee to review the bylaws of its constitution. The said committee’s findings with suggestions/recommendations were submitted in the recent National Council meeting by one gentleman (probably the head of the committee). Even though he has no legal background, he studied the constitution as good as he could and presented his views in his Koodara Yogam before it was submitted in the National Council.

The major recommendations were, (1) reducing the minimum distance between the units to 20 miles, (2) giving voting rights to youth who are 18 years of age and above, (3) fixing 25 years as the minimum age to become UKKCA Executive Member.

Like our Legislative Assembly back home, UKKCA National Council postponed its decision and left the matter to the next Executive Committee which will be elected in January (?). The Committee’s head (back home he was the leader of an ആളില്ല്ലാ പാര്‍ട്ടി) tore the papers and put it in the bin. His ADCs claim that it was only a gimmick and the real papers are still with him. Thank God members were all wearing pants and therefore they could not pull down the opponent’s Mundu

Lady members of National Council, beware. You should attend the National Council meetings wearing Jeans and top!

Now you all know why the report of the proceedings of National Council are kept as a guarded secret. Whatever that happens there is shameful and they don’t want us to know about it!

Ordinary members of the U.K. Knanaya Community would like to know why a committee was appointed to review the by-laws and what the outcome was. Delaying, postponement and procrastination are no solution. Unless leaders with commitment are elected, the style of function of the next EC will be the same.

If any serious Constitution Review is planned, a committee with at least a few persons with legal background (there are such people in our community) should be appointed and suggestions from member units and ordinary members should be invited. That is if they are serious and sincere about it.

Lessons for we, the members of UKKCA are - think twice before casting votes. Is the candidate capable of discussing a serious matter? Can he/she speak and behave properly in public? Has he/she any vision for the future of the organization and the community? Please don’t elect people who are problematic at home and in the unit.

We need a strong organisation for the sake of our next generation.

Dear Saji Achan:

Spiritual force within a person is greater than faith, greater than ambition, greater than confidence, greater than determination, greater than vision.  A few years in Seminary will not help you attain this.  Spirituality is all the above combined.  It comes from one’s virtue and it comes with age.

What I am trying to drive at is the fact that the title of “Spiritual Director” is too high a nomenclature for an ordinary priest.

If the comments being posted in British Kna is any indication, you will – if you have the time and inclination to go through them  – get a fairly good idea of what your little lambs really think about you in spite of the reverence and affection they exhibit while they meet you in person.

Politics is dirty.  You have to be a dirty person if you need to participate in political games.  UKKCA Constitution envisages that its Spiritual Director should take care of the spiritual needs of the community members individually and as a group.  I will not make any allegations against you, but you better ask yourself if your role in UKKCA has been purely “spiritual” in nature.

Let us come to the unpleasant aftermaths of the Manchester Unit election.  Things happened right under your nose.  All the characters in the drama are closely known to you.  You could have used your personal influence with them to informally mediate and come out of the imbroglio in a decent way.  But, unfortunately, you did not move your little finger.   Well, you could argue, it was not a spiritual issue. 

True, very true.

National Council in their meeting on 15^th October appointed a commission to solve the Manchester issue.  A person with average intelligence and an internet connection could google and solve the problem in less than 2 minutes.  But, that is not the way UKKCA functions.  They appointed a Committee.  And you are its Chairperson.

What is the spirituality involved in this issue, dear Saji Achan?  Why are you there in the committee?

Your reputation as the Chaplain is fast eroding.  The way the non-Kna Syro Malabar brethren are disillusioned with you is public knowledge.   Now you are antagonising a section of our own community who have been supporting you blindly right from the day you landed here.

If you are aware of all these and your actions are calculated, I wish you all the best.  Or else, please try to stick to your role of “Spiritual Director.”

Serious Allegations Against Manchester Unit

Dear Friends:

British Kna has received copy of a complaint that was sent to the authorities of Manchester Unit of UKKCA.  We do not know if the points raised in the complaint are genuine or not.  This revelation becomes important for another reason.  

Most of the Units of UKKCA are being managed like secret organization without any transparency.  A handful of people have hijacked the organization which has clearly defined aims and objectives.  The vicious caucus who grab power use the units for their personal benefits as if it is their fiefdom.  Recently they have become more arrogant and have started handling criticism with vengeance.  This culture has to be stopped.

Obituary: Geeta Edappallicherayil

It is with profound sadness we announce the death of Geetha Thomas Edappallicherayil (55). She died at her residence in Pune, India, Wednesday at 9.00PM.

She is the wife of Thomas Edappallicherayil (Thomaskutty, Neendoor) and the daughter of  Joseph and Annamma Kizhakekattil, Kaipuzha.

She is survived by her Children Arun and his wife Asha, Cyriac ( Pune, India).

Her siblings are:

Justice Cyriac Joseph (New Delhi), Laila Babu (Kottayam), James Joseph (Trivandrum) and Bose Joseph (Banglore)

Funeral arrangements are being made at St. Michael's Church in Neendoor.

It is learned that copies of this document were handed over to every unit on 30.01.2010.  It is not clear if any amendment have been made with the approval of UKKCA National Council after that date.

ജോയ്പ്പാന്‍ ക്രുശിക്കപെടുന്നു!

It is understood from reliable sources that Joyppan (Joy Joseph Elackattuparambil, resident of Stockport) has been served with a show-cause notice by the Manchester Knanaya Unit of UKKCA.

Joyppan who is at work could not be contacted and a copy of the notice could not be seen by British Kna.

It is however, learned that the allegation is that he insulted “Women” and that he should explain why action should not be taken against him.

This raises a number of questions.

Joyppan is a humorist of some reputation amongst Malayalees of U.K. and his talents were recognised by UKKCA Central Committee during the recent Convenction.   Kunjan Nambiar who was another satirist/humourist in the good old days was punished and exiled by his patron King several times for making fun of him.  But, times have changed.  India (where we all were born) and Britain (where we live now) are free countries and both these countries respect freedom of expression.  Who are these petty officials of Manchester Unit of UKKCA to deny anyone that freedom?

Did they receive any written complaint about the “insult?”  In that case, who complained and why did he/she complain?  Did Joyppan insult anyone personally?

MKKCA Mughals should come out with an open statement explaining why such an unprecedented action has been taken against a member of the Unit.  They should not forget the fact that UKKCA, unlike Catholic Church, is a democratic set up and members have the power to recall anyone who takes steps that are not in accordance with the clauses of UKKCA Constitution.  They should not assume power that they do not possess.

[അതും, ഒറ്റ തവണയേ ഉടുക്കൂ [കോട്ടയത്തെ കല്ലറക്കല്‍ സ്ടോരിലുള്ള ആഭരണങ്ങള്‍ വാരി ചാര്ത്തി യിട്ടുണ്ടാകും എന്ന കാര്യത്തില്‍ സംശയം ഇല്ലേയില്ല. അന്ന് പിന്നിക്കെട്ടിയ ആ മുടി കോല് പോലെ വലിച്ചു നീട്ടാതെ വരുന്നത് ആലോചിക്കാനേ വയ്യാത്ത കാലം. ഈ കൂട്ടായ്മകളുടെ അജണ്ട എന്താണ്? ചുരുക്കം ചിലയിടങ്ങളില്‍ കുട്ടികള്ക്കു ള്ള ബൈബിള്‍ ക്വിസ് തുടങ്ങിയ നല്ല കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ ഇല്ലാതില്ല എന്ന് പറയാതെ വയ്യ. എന്നാല്‍ അത് കഴിഞ്ഞാലോ, കുപ്പികള്‍ പൊട്ടുകയായി, വിഭവക്കാരന്‍ കൊണ്ട് വന്ന ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കലായി. ഇനി മദ്യം കഴിക്കാതവനനെകിലോ [സാധ്യത വളരെ വളരെ കുറവ്] അയാള്‍ ഒറ്റപ്പെട്ടത് തന്നെ. കൂട്ട ആക്രമണം പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കാം. ഇതില്‍ തനിമയെവിടെ? ഒരുമയെവിടെ? പങ്കിടലെവിടെ??


ഒരു കൂട്ടായ്മയില്‍ ഒന്നിച്ചു കൂടുന്ന 30 കുടുംബങ്ങള്‍. മാസത്തില്‍ 2 പൌണ്ട് വച്ച് സ്വരൂപിച്ചാല്‍ 4500 രൂപയായി. ഇത് സമാഹരിച്ചു നാട്ടിലെ പാവപ്പെട്ട ക്നനയക്കാരന് വേണ്ടി എന്തെങ്കിലും!! ഏയ് ....അതുമാത്രം...ആ 2 പൌണ്ട് അപ്പോള്‍ വിലപ്പെട്ടതാണ്‌. ഒരു കുപ്പി ബകാര്ടിക്കു മുടക്കുന്ന 18 പൌണ്ട്.. അതിനു പുല്ലു വില.

ഇനി ഈ കുഞ്ഞു കൂട്ടായ്മയിലെ കുഞ്ഞു കുഞ്ഞു സ്ഥാനമോഹങ്ങലോ, അത് വളര്ന്നു വളര്ന്നു അങ്ങ് കേന്ദ്ര കമ്മറ്റിയിലേക്ക് എത്തണം എന്ന അതിമോഹമായി പരിണമിക്കുന്നു. അപ്പോഴേക്കും അവിടെത്തന്നെ, രണ്ടു ചേരിയായി..പിന്നെ വഴക്കായി..തല്ലായി, ഹാ കഷ്ടം കൂടാരയോഗം!!!!

കുഞ്ഞു കൂട്ടയ്മക്കാര്ക്ക് ചര്ച്ച് ചെയ്യാന്‍ വിഷയങ്ങളേറേ. അടുത്ത് വരുന്ന ഇലക്ഷനില്‍ ചിലരെ എങ്ങനെ തറ പറ്റിക്കാം, പാര പണിയാം, വരാനിരിക്കുന്ന ആഗോളയോഗത്തില്‍ പുരുഷന്മാര്‍ എന്ത് ധരിക്കണം, സ്ത്രീകള്‍ സാരി മുന്നോട്ടുടുക്കണോ പിന്നോട്ടുടുക്കണോ, എന്തെല്ലാം വേഷ ഭൂഷാടികള്‍ റാലിയില്‍ അണിനിരത്താം, അങ്ങനെ എന്തെല്ലാം, എന്തെല്ലാം ചര്ച്ചക വിഷയങ്ങള്‍, അതിനിടയില്‍, പ്രാര്ത്ഥലന? 6 മാസം മുന്പേല തുടങ്ങും convention-നുള്ള ഒരുക്കങ്ങള്‍. ഇനി അവിടെയോ.. എന്തെല്ലാം കോലംകെട്ടലുകള്‍, വേഷംകെട്ടലുകള്‍. നാട്ടില്‍ നിന്നും വന്ന പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിടന്റുമാര്‍, മന്ത്രിമാര്‍, മെത്രാന്മാര്‍, കുഞ്ഞു കമ്മിറ്റി പ്രസിടന്റുമാര്‍, വല്യേട്ടന്‍ പ്രസിടന്റുമാര്‍, ഇങ്ങനെ stage-ല്‍ കയറാന്‍ ഇടിക്കുന്ന ഒരു വലിയ നിര. അതിനിടെ ഒരു വാക്ക് പോലും മലയാളം പറയാനറിയാതെ, കനത്ത പ്രതിഫലം പറ്റി ചിരിച്ചു ദര്ശeനം നല്കു്ന്ന അന്യ ഭാഷ നടി, എന്തെല്ലാം... എന്റെ ഈശോയേ..

ഹാസ്യരൂപത്തില്‍ ആഗോളയോഗത്തെപ്പറ്റി പ്രസ്തുത ക്നാ ഒരു വിധം നന്നായി വിവരിച്ചു. പിന്നെ അഭിപ്രായങ്ങളുടെയും, മറു അഭിപ്രായങ്ങളുടെയും ഒരു പ്രവാഹം തന്നെ ഉണ്ടായി. എത്ര മാത്രം തരാം താഴാമോ അത്ര മാത്രം താഴ്ന്നും, അറപ്പുളവാക്കുന്ന രീതിയിലും പരസ്പരം ചെളി വാരി എറിഞ്ഞും അഭിപ്രായങ്ങള്‍... ഞാനും ഒരു ക്നാ ആണല്ലോ എന്നോര്ത്ത്ു എന്റെ തല കുനിഞ്ഞു പോകുന്നു. ഇതാണോ ഈ സമുദായ ഭ്രാന്തന്മാര്‍ തനിമയെന്നും ഒരുമയെന്നും പ്രസംഗിച്ചു നടക്കുന്നത്!!

E Vanitha ye nammal enthu cheyyanam?, e vanitha ella positions um venda ennu vachu veetil adangi irikkanam. More than 90% of the UK Malayalies are either Nurses or Carers.

Commo'n, it is an insult to all of us, find out who is that dirty minded women and keep her away from us.

This is going to be a big issue and already consulted with the solicitors to find what we can do legally aganist this women. she has a last chance to begg "shama" to all Nurses.

I beleive this must be discussed here, 'coz, this lady's husband is stiching the shirt for UKKCA PRESIDENT. If this the dirty mentality how he can lead us?
