Banyan trees (ആല്‍ മരം) are sacred particularly to Hindus and Buddhists. It is a very useful tree, but it becomes a problem when it is grown on the parapet or near the boundary wall. The same way, constructive criticism is good for better functioning of an association or even for a family life. But when it goes off the boundary line it becomes a problem. This is what has happened in UKKCA units. Members of the Kna family fight with each other and the media takes undue advantage of it.Now what is the use of blaming each other? We should be wise enough to tackle this problem by negotiation. It is not a weakness but it shows maturity. Of course we can blame the UKKCA and MKCA leaders. May be their inexperience or lethargy might have aggravated the situation and invited criticisms from all parts of the UK. It is quite natural. We should understand that they also have a family life and they are busy with their normal duties. We may have one argument - "Did anyone compel them to take up the responsibilities?" And we could laugh at them. That is not fair. Nobody is perfect and how can UKKCA executives be so?
If possible bring the two factions around one table, which is not easy. UKKCA leaders should not be ashamed to seek the help of former presidents or unit presidents of Liverpool, Sheffield, Stoke on Trent and/or Preston. In the presence of all these leaders try to find an amicable solution. Conducting a new election may not be easy. So, if possible nominate people from both factions in such a way that no one is marginalized.
If they cannot do that they have to freeze the activities for the time being, update the voters list and conduct the election under the supervision of UKKCA or an election commission appointed by UKKCA.
It is easy for me to write all these but I do realise that it is a tedious task. We should not forget that at the end of the day we are all Knanites and it should not be forgotten that the first objective of UKKCA is “to unite all Knanaya Catholics who are now living in the United Kingdom.”
All these politics and politrics are not interesting for the young people here, and I will not be surprised if they say “What Kna ? And for what? For fighting? We are not interested. Let Daddy and Mummy go. We shall stay at home”. Then what will be the use of all these games and gimmicks if it hurts the youngsters.
The ordinary Knanites will sit at home and keep away from the mainstream, fed up with all these power politics.
So I request UKKCA and MKCA to rise up to the occasion and think twice and make proper decisions. The notorious Berlin Wall that used to separate East Germany and West Germany was demolished making it a united Germany. If that was possible, there is absolute no problem for Knanites in Manchester to live in harmony and unity.

Good thoughts, if everyone is perfect we don't need any association or leaders. Within any society, there are few objectives to form an association, to maintain unity and harmony within that society, and its leaders are elected to meet thses objectives. Leaders or could be leaders should understand these responsibilities and should only volunteer if they have sufficient time and energy to carry out or perform these duties. Otherwise they are a burden for the association and its members.

Yes, Roy, nobody is perfect. Not the executives, not the members and not the critics. We all have our imperfections. And we all have our different viewpoints.
ReplyDeleteThat is why in modern world we have laws and regulations. Basis of the law of a land is its constitution.
Associations also need constitutions. Several people have been clamouring in this forum that UKKCA has a faulty constitution and that is the source of all the troubles. When two members of MKCA were to be given show-cause notice, nobody knew the rule.
Constitution should be drafted by competent people and it should be amended from time to time by people who know what they are doing. These are normal things. But strangely, our people believe that they are special and they don’t need a constitution. And what is the net result: we, as a community, is ridiculed by the media. And surprisingly our thick-skinned “leaders” can’t even feel the shame of it.
As you said in the above comment, let us hope there will be at least one or two sensible guys in the next executive body.

ReplyDeleteകേരളത്തില്‍ പരമ്പരാഗതമായി നിലനിന്ന ജാതി- മത- വര്‍ഗ്ഗ- വര്‍ണ്ണ വ്യവസ്ഥകള്‍ എ.ഡി. 345 ല്‍ എന്നതുപോലെ 2011 ലും തുടരുന്നു. കേരളത്തില്‍ നില നിന്ന ഈയൊരു സാഹചര്യമാണ് ഒരു പക്ഷേ സ്വന്തമായി പള്ളികളോ രൂപതയയോ ഇല്ലാതെയിരുന്നിട്ടും ക്നാനായക്കാര്‍ക്കും അവരുടെ അസ്തിത്വം കാത്തു സൂക്ഷിക്കുവാന്‍ സഹായകമായത്‌.
ഇന്നിപ്പോള്‍ ലോകവ്യാപകമായി ഉപജീവനം നടത്തുന്ന നമ്മുടെ കൊച്ചു സമൂഹത്തിനു കേരളത്തിനെ അപേക്ഷിച് വെല്ലുവിളികള്‍ ഏറെയാണുള്ളത്‌.
കുട്ടികളിലേക്ക് വെറുതെ ദാവീദ്‌ രാജാവ്‌ എന്നും രാജ രക്തം എന്നുമൊക്കെ പുലമ്പുന്നത് കൊണ്ട് യാതൊരു പ്രയോജനവും ഉണ്ടാവാന്‍ ഇടയില്ല. മറിച്, കേരളത്തിന്‍റെ ചരിത്രം അവരിലേക്ക്‌ പകരുകയാണ് ആദ്യം വേണ്ടത്‌. എന്നുവച്ചാല്‍ , ഒരു സമൂഹമെന്ന രീതിയില്‍ ജീവിക്കുന്നതിനു വേണ്ട വളക്കൂറുള്ള മണ്ണായിരുന്നു കേരളത്തിന്റെത്.
അവിടെ ബ്രാഹ്മണനും, നായരും, ആശാരിയും അതില്‍ തന്നെ കല്ലാശാരിയും മരയാശാരിയും, കൊല്ലനും, തട്ടാനും, മൂശാരിയും, ചോകൊനും, പറയനും, പുലയനും, വെട്ടോനും, നാടിയാനും, പുള്ളുവനും എന്ന് വേണ്ട എണ്ണിയാലൊടുങ്ങാത്ത വര്‍ഗ്ഗ വ്യത്യാസങ്ങള്‍ നില നിന്നൊരിടം.
യു.കെ.യും അമേരിക്കയും മറ്റു പല വികസിത രാജ്യങ്ങളും ഇതിനെല്ലാം നേരെ വിപരീതവും! ഇതാണ് നമ്മള്‍ നേരിടുന്ന യഥാര്‍ത്ഥ പ്രശ്നം.

It is a good opinion to sit and talk the problems happened with in M.K.C.A.Instead of blaming each other come to a table and talk each other.Especially the spiritual director shoul read this and take appropriate decision
