My dear Knanaya Brothers and Sisters in U.K.
National Council of UKKCA met yesterday (15th October) in Birmingham.
What happens in parliaments of Britain and India can be watched live on TV, but to know what decisions are taken in UKKCA meetings, one has to be a spy. They do not believe in sending a group mail to members to inform them of the decisions taken or publishing at least the important decisions in the website. People are forced to depend on the imagination of online publications to know what happened. And this situation certainly creates a fertile ground for gossips and rumours to grow and spread.
From what some friends told me (they heard it from their friends), it seems I (Joyppan) was one of the main topics of discussion yesterday. The reason is that – I insulted women! They base it on a story I wrote in one of the publications that regularly publishes news of Knanaya Community.
I want to make it clear that I never meant to insult anyone in my community – no man, no woman. I am afraid the rumours are spread by people who never read what I wrote. Even after all these talks, most of our people have not bothered to check what was written. May I politely ask my Knanaya brothers and sisters to first read the story and tell me what was insulting and offensive in it.
And there were also talks about disciplinary actions against me. They are most welcome to sentence me to death. But, before doing that, I have got something to tell the UKKCA Bosses.
1. Are you aware of the physical assault that happened in Newcastle unit? What disciplinary action has been taken there?
2. Do you know that verbal abuse is a punishable crime in this country? One of our members (a former office-bearer) wrote his opinion in the media and another member of the community reacted by verbally abusing him. He has recorded evidence of the conversation. What action is being considered?
3. A former president of a unit called the people parasites (Ithilkanni). What action is being considered?
Dear UKKCA Executive Knjungal, please remember this. Like any of you my family came to England for a better life and by the grace of God we all are better off than before. This is a country that believes in equality, liberty and freedom of speech. UKKCA office bearers are elected to their positions not because they are greater than ordinary people. They are elected because people believe they have the time and inclination to do something good for the community and its members. If they behave as bosses of the community members, they will soon know they are terribly, sadly, wrong.
Affectionately, Joyppan
