Most of the world population including Knannaites still dream of migrating to America, few may have known or heard the basic principles of that great nation’s success. Harsh laws named “Lawes Divine, Morall and Martiall, etc” forced on to the English settlers in early 17thCentury. Even though those harsh laws were abolished within eight years by the first elected assembly, many still believe American settlement’s success was purely because of those short eight or nine years. My point is not to highlight those harsh laws, but the importance of governing rules or principles and to remind each one about UKKCA rules and regulations, on which the current executive committee and all units are bonded together. Current executive committee including all national council members took oath to abide by those rules, which were prepared and approved by our own previous national council members.
We live in a most civilised country, where every individual is respected and treated equally, every one’s grievances are heard and every establishment is legally bound to provide justice to all. As in every case there are arguments and justifications for one’s action, therefore solutions are not easy, it needs time to analyse all aspects. The situations worsens when voluntary associations with voluntary leaders are involved.
UKKCA is a registered charity, registered under Charity Commission of England and Wales (No 1135189). I could have got this charity registered in Scotland and Northern Ireland as well, unfortunately situation changed, I could not find any other Knanaya Catholic charity registered with the UK charity commission’s website, I would be grateful to those who could provide a registration number to the recent claims in online papers. I’m not questioning or contradicting anyone’s claims, but very eager to know the facts.
Dissident activities are very common in all democratic institutions; following the approved and accepted constitution is the only protection. Initially UKKCA did respond appropriately to the current situation (may be due to pressure from other National Council members), but later backed out. And few of the elected executives clearly acted against the constitution and broke their promised word of honour. It’s a shame for the UKKCA - as a registered charity, to all other units - which still upholds this constitution, and all members - who are very obedient to this constitution.
It’s disappointing for UKKCA to ignore the request of Seventy Six national council members and spiritual advisors for an urgent national council meeting to resolve not only Manchester unit election issues but several other important matters affecting UKKCA.
If the elections took place as announced and agreed, we have the legal and moral responsibility to accept it, if not appeal against it to the unit and to UKKCA. Provide sufficient time for these volunteers to respond (as none of them are paid for their work). If you are still not satisfied, you are at liberty to register a complaint with the Charity Commission quoting the above number (Please ensure you have sufficient written proof). At last never expect any favourable decision from any institution, be ready to accept their ruling and of course initiate another process to amend the current constitution.
UKKCA 2012 elections are not the end of world and heavens will not fall down if a particular individual becomes President, but all will be lost if we continued to fight internally without considering our other fellow Knannaites living in other parts of UK.
