An Appeal from a Community Member

Pasted below is a comment received from one Mr. M O Simon (we at British Kna are clueless about his identity) on a previous post, A Letter to UKKCA President.

It is felt that this deserves serious attention of the members and leaders of our Community.  As a comment, this may go unnoticed.  Hence it is posted here.  We appreciate your suggestions, Mr. Simon.  Let us have a dialogue and discussion; not a quarrel on such issues

- Administrator, British Kna

Dear all at MKCA & UKKCA.

With love and due respect to all, let me mention a few things in the context of the above letter (from MKCA to UKKCA) and the forthcoming UKKCA elections.

We the knanaya community members, like all other immigrants, are in UK in search of a better life for us and our children. We are struggling day & night to achieve this primary objective. Here we are living in the midst of various problems like different cultures, nationalities, job insecurities and many unexpected situations. To take some solace from these day to day problems, we formed our knanaya associations with a spirit of love. Let us make our UKKCA units a medium for spreading love & fraternity and no cause for bitterness.

The recent developments in the Manchester unit have pained all the knanaya community members across the UK. It has started with the unit election. Without blaming anyone in particular, I must say all the then unit office bearers have failed in their duty to conduct the proceedings in the spirit of love and togetherness. It could have been solved without making further damage to the community spirit, if our spiritual adviser had acted timely instead of going to online newspaper belatedly. Now the basic principles of love & togetherness of the association have been put on stake by the MKCA leadership. Rules & laws are made for the well being of the people to live more peacefully & happily. Any rule which is against this principle can be changed at anytime but the happiness of the people should be paramount.

The present problem of the MKCA has now become a problem for the UKKCA in total. By disintegration of members by resignations and by forming of separate units the original MKCA is in total disarray. Due to the above situations the UKKCA leadership and the national council may be compelled to take unpleasant decisions which may not be good in the best interest of the community. I, therefore, appeal to the MKCA leaders to save the association from further embarrassment by voluntarily staying away from the forthcoming UKKCA election process ie; from voting and contesting as well. This will not make you small in any way but by doing this you can use this opportunity as a minimum damage control and can stop further escalation of rift. The new national council will surely help to bring back the love & togetherness once again to the members of Manchester area.

M O Simon.

  2. I agree with you Mr.Simon! If they take part in the election, it is going to make the matters even worse! So it's better for them to stay away from all this.

  3. Why should MKCA stay away from the election... some idiots are advising MKCA to what to do? Why can't you advise the so called fractions, who broke away from MKCA... they are puppets...Fr. Saji is our spiritual advisor and doing a good job.. you are jealous of him..keep your mouth shut Simon...

  4. Mr anonymous,
You do not know the basic principle of community living your just one sided from your own groups of 'chitty'. Mr Simon has done a very good job and everyone should thank him for putting such a good idea forward.

  5. Dear Mr. Anonymous, When you use words like "Idiots" and "Keep your mouth Shut" etc. you are proving to the community what type of a person you are. Simon is a well known and highly respected person. When you use such terms, your own image is damaged.

  6. I do not think any and I mean ANY other unit would disagree with Simon chettan. except maybe for MANCHESTER CULTURAL ASSOCIATION individuals' selfishness?

What he has said is appropriate and totally valid.

It is THE ONLY AND THE BEST way for UKKCA to proceed without much troubles.

It is best for BOTH MKCA to stay out of these elections this time round.

    Anyone agree ?

  9. Mr Simon...you deserve appreciation for publishing your wise thoughts...all the knanaya members..should give a thought about what u said.

As you said...for avoiding any future disasters for the KNANAYA community in the UK..manchester should stay away from the forthcoming UKKCA elections. It is better for the community, one in which all of us knanaites belong.

  11. Simon Chettan, I never got a chance to meet you, but have heard a lot about you. But I very much appreciate your suggestion posted here.

The split and troubles that has now happened in MKCA are all because of the lack of long sight of our local leaders. First of all, a president and secretary should not conduct an election. We had capable and impartial advisors; they should have been given the charge. But the president behaved like a dictator and took charge. And he called all present there “Ithil Kannikal.” I know, you may not believe this, because it is so unbelievable. But this is not a story I am making. There were many people present they will tell you that I am telling the truth.

He had (and has) only one agenda – he wants to be the next UKKCA President. He is ready to do anything to achieve this goal.

In every election some win and others fail. But what happened in MKCA was something unusual. Immediately after the election, a detailed report (with number of votes) appeared in a non-Knanaya media with photographs of some selected individual. We all know how it happened.

If you want to see UKCCA buried by the hero from Bury, let the MKCA contest and vote in the election. If there is anyone who want our UKKCA to be alive for the sake of every member and our children, please make sure that such villains don’t participate in the election for the time-being.

Did you see how some guys reacted to your suggestions. That is their level. Sakshaal Thara Class!

Thanks, Simon Chettan for the interest you are showing. Other matured and sensible members of UKKCA should also play an active role, because UKKCA is in a crisis because of the development in Manchester and due to the ambition of the man who wants to Bury UKKCA!

  13. hi siby
your standard is very clear from here.can Iask you a questian?Where were you on that day? why dont yousuggest your opinion then?why did you allow them to conduct the election ?when the result come out what is the point of asking such foolish questions? Are you happy to destroy a good organisation? After all what did you get by doing so?what is the point of asking so and so?If you cannot accept the defeat why should you contest? Be a gentleman?Stand by your own legs.
    with lot of blessings

We the MKCA members know how to solve the problem.

ഈ വര്ഷtത്തെ Knanaya Joker of the Year award ഷാജികുട്ടന് ഉറപ്പാണ്!

  16. So according to mr siby kandathil the hero from bury is the creator of problem? if people feel so then maybe he should not compete or let him compete as long as no-one votes for him he will come out of the election empty handed, but that is for the people to decide if they share Mr Siby's view or not! Or maybe give him a taste of his own medication ban him from UKKCA since he tried to ban some people like joypan etc...
Also to the shaji and the one posted below shaji:
then why on earth is the MKCA problems not resolved?! you know very well that those people that did speak out against the election was kept quite! Saji achan is doing a good job? Really? does a good job of a priest involve being biased and favouring certain people? Jesus was not biased he loved each and everyone and priest are supposed to be following in his footstep not like how saji achan is showing!
I agree with everything what Mr Simon is saying in his post however asking MKCA people not to participate in the election is not the way forward, what should be done is a relection of the whole comittee should be held and if that is not possible and if ex MKCA members cannot/refuse to return then MKCA should go ahead like that and go compete but i doubt they would win.

  19. Mr Siby you are very correct!. Therefore 3/4 of the members from Manchester Knanaya Catholic Cultural Association is separated and resigned from their units. The divided units are Wigan Knanaya Catholic Association and Manchester knanaya Catholic Association. So anyone should be able to understand that there are issues in MKCA.
