Dear Presidents and Secretaries of Member associations,
I sincerely hope you had a chance to review the minutes of the meeting between KCCNA and Knanaya Region priests in the presence of our beloved Arch Bishop. As a follow up to the meeting, KCCNA EC will be taking the following steps and we will keep you posted on a regular basis on the progress we are making.
1. KCCNA president will respond to Bishop Mar Angadiyath. We will seek Bishop Angadiayth's written concurrence on the new criteria for membership in Knanaya Parishes and Missions as outlined by our priests and Archbishop. Given there are letters and a public speech contrary to the current criteria were communicated from the Syro-Malabar Diocese of Chicago, KCCNA EC strongly believes, it is important to clarify in writing from Bishop Angadiayth that he also concurs with the new membership criteria since Bishop Angadiayth is the local Bishop.
2. Once we get the clarification from Bishop Angadiyath, we will communicate the information to all members associations. Once you receive the communication, you will need to call a general body meeting where you will discuss the new criteria for membership in the Knanaya Parishes and Missions (assuming Bishop Angadiyath Concurs) and cooperation status towards the Diocese.
In the mean time please encourage our community members to register for the convention. The meeting on last Saturday underscored the role of associations and KCCNA in protecting the interest of the community in North America, it is our collective responsibility to make the convention and all activities of Knanaya Associations successful going forward.
I certainly acknowledge these are tough times for our community, however it is our resolve to face these types of challenging circumstances over the last 1700 years kept us a vibrant small community. I am confidant we will come out strong at the end of all of these because we are ONE people, with ONE heritage and will go forward as ONE regardless of our disagreements.
Sincerely
Shiens Akasala
President, KCCNA
